American River Parkway Trail Repair Work to Take Place at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

The following information has been provided courtesy of California State Parks.  The information addresses the maintenance/upgrade work and related detours along the American River Bike Trail between September and November 2015 in the Folsom Community:

FOLSOM, Calif. – Users of the American River Bike Trail should be prepared for detours between the Folsom Crossing Bridge and Negro Bar park unit in the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area beginning Monday September 21.

A trail improvement project by California State Parks is expected to last through Friday, November 27.  Portions of the trail will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate construction crews.  There will be detours in place around the closures routing trail traffic onto Auburn Folsom Road.

“This heavily used section of trail is enjoyed by pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians and we understand that this work may result in an inconvenience for many of our park visitors,” said Superintendent Rich Preston.   “We ask for the public’s cooperation by adhering to the closures and detours.”

The Folsom Lake State Recreation Area administers approximately 15 miles of the paved American River Parkway trail between Hazel Bridge and Beals Point, including both the north and south sides of Lake Natoma.
